Brick cleaning is finished

The bricks are completely cleaned now and they look amazing!  The brick layer did an outstanding job, we love them!

Not much else has been done, we are waiting for the ducted vacuuming to be moved still, i suppose they are working on other sites now, shows they should make contact with you before they decide the best place to put things.  Some of the insulation is in by the looks of it and we have a nice water feature around 2 sides of the house :)

Can't wait to see what gets done this week and hope the rain stays away.

I love my bricks!!!!

2/3 of the bricks have been cleaned, and I looooovvvvvveeee them!!!! They look so nice and the woodland grey windows match so well.  Once the garage door goes on it should look awesome.

A couple of pics although it was about 5.15 so it's a little dark

Electrical rough in walk thru

This morning at 7.30am cold and raining we met with our SS to check the electrical's were put in the right spots.

First problem was the ducted vaccum, guess where they put the motor? Yep you guessed it, in the bloody workshop!!!!!!!!!!  I just can't believe it, this workshop has a magnet on it. They also put one of the points in the main entry so I have asked them to be moved as there is nothing in the main entry except a light switch.  Anyway that was the only problem in the whole house so that's pretty good I think.

One piece of advice is when you do your electrical appointment make sure everything and I mean everything is placed in the right position on the plan, don't believe them when they say " we will just put it here and you can move it later if its not in the right position" or " we will just place it in the middle of the room and the contractors will contact you first" cause they don't.  This is what has happened with the DV we only had the motor placed in the garage (on the plan it was in the middle of the room) and none of the outlets where on the plan so they just put them where they thought was best.

The insulation is due tomorrow and the gyprock is due to be delivered but it needs to stop pouring with rain first so they can deliver it. Our SS assured us we will be at lockup in 2 weeks, that's great news.

Our bricks weren't cleaned due to the crap weather, the brick cleaner came while we were there and said he will be back on Thursday and because the bricks are dry pressed or something it will take a day and half to do.  That's ok really it's not holding us up.

The air conditioning people contacted us today for us to do a rough guide of where we are putting lights & downlights so they know where to put the outlets for the air. We are getting 4 zones with 10 outlets, we have 9 chosen we just need to work out where we put the 10th one. I will do the plan tomorrow and send it to them

The land developer puts in the alarm in our house, but we haven't heard a whisper since we met with him a few weeks ago, I told our SS he isn't to delay our progress he will just have to do it after the gyprock if need be, that will be his dilemma not ours. We also asked for a quote on an intercom and other things but haven't received that either, funny how people run a business isn't it, no service and no communication!!

So that's it, no pics as there was only wet clay and puddles, but we are happy how everything is progressing.

Great start to the week!

My daughter drove me to the house this afternoon, she is on her "L's" and she didn't get to come on the weekend.

We were surprised with workmen still working at 4pm!  They were putting up the eaves and we got the wooden poles out the front and for the side facade (wooden poles is the technical term).  The plumbers were there as well and had just finished off putting up the gas boosted solar panels, they are huge, most houses have 2 but we have 3 as they aren't in the ideal spot, we are going to surround them with solar panels for electricity then the roof will look awesome, well to us it will.

And the bricks are finished yayyyyyy, all they need to do is clean them now.  So for a Monday I think we have done very well. Good on you SS, keep up the good work, we are very happy - so far! We will go on Saturday on our way to Berry, we are going to look at a dining table which could turn into a very or berry expensive day :).

Corner facade - looking good although I wish the little slab was a bit bigger

Gas boosted solar panels- not the best shot

Looking good

The bricks are just about done, all there is to do are the row of bricks under the windows and the stacker doors.  They have cleaned up the site as well, there was a huge mess but now it looks nice and neat.   The rain has put us a couple of days behind I think, the gas boosted solar panels were supposed to be done and the eaves but hopefully that will be next week now.  I have been going to look once during the week and then we all go and look on a Saturday.  I was going every day but was getting disappointed if something wasn't done.  It's much better this way. So Friday was Day 40 , still a while to go yet!

Here are some pics

5000 Page Reviews

Wow I can't believe I have 5000 page reviews on my blog.  Thank you everyone for reading it and for all the positive comments.  There is a lot more to come, we still have another 5 months of building before we move in..

THANKS AGAIN 😀

Thanks MJH

Today we had some good news from our SS, after some discussions with the Construction Manager they have decided the workshop wall shouldn't of been designed as a double brick wall and are going to gyprock it and put architraves around the window and make it all pretty. I can't tell you what a relief this is and I was very grateful for the feedback from our SS today, now we can all have a good weekend and not have to worry.

AND I don't want to have to talk about the "workshop" aka "Brewery" again!!!!!!!!!!!  Even the security man who is putting in our alarm system started off our meeting yesterday saying you must have a sensor in the workshop cause it will have important boy stuff in there, I could of punched him in the head ha ha.  Men don't seem to see the big house attached to the bloody workshop :)

So now we have no worries as the bricks are half done as of Thursday and it all seems to be going well.  The gas boosted solar panels go up next week and the bricks should be finished and they are hoping the eaves will be put up, fingers crossed x

It makes you wonder..........

I thought I would just put a few things on here that have happened so far that are really confusing us.

First thing is "The Workshop". Now this room is attached to the double garage and cost approx $7500 this paid for the extension of the front and back wall by 3m, 2 windows, 1 door and 3m of extra roof, so everything looks fine until they put up the frame and there is no frame for the front of the workshop.  we are informed its going to be a double brick wall so from inside there will be brick with the windows sitting in them, mmmm weird. When we looked closely to our plans, and they have to be printed in colour mind you, the outer colour of the house is dark blue, the inner line (gyprock) is light blue, on our plan that little line depicting 3m of garage inside is dark blue and guess what we never noticed, and why the hell would they draw it like that? The impressions package states the garage will be fully lined so why would we want one wall with bricks?  We spoke to our CLO who said they will glue gyprock on for $250 but we aren't going ahed with that as we are not paying out anymore money.

Next issue is our new SS who is very helpful but is confusing us no end. He has told us that wall will not be weather proof, what the?  I don't see how as its a brick wall, actually 2 brick walls thick, next he said we shouldn't have the timber surrounds on the windows and he will put some bracket in if we want, we opted to keep the surrounds and then he said the windows will twist!  We are so confused, isn't that why we have paid lots of $$$$$$$ for MJH to build us a home that doesn't leak and windows don't twist?  And all this is in the workshop, there has been no mention of the remainder of the house, if double brick wall leaks so wouldn't a brick wall and gyprock?  OMG confusion all round.

One more thing our brick layer doesn't like getting his boots dirty, he didn't work yesterday cause of a bit of mud, wow I didn't think that would matter to a person who works outdoors for a living!

Yep I'm on a roll, watch out!!!!  But I will be over it by the next time I go out to the house and see it cause I really can't wait to move in. So Mr Bricklayer harden up and get the job done!!!!

More photos of our roof!!!

We were there about 11.30am and it was very overcast. I'm wondering when the sun will go through the back doors

This was taken from further along the street, the roof looked a totally different colour today, it looked a lot lighter.
